Led Grow Light Buying Guide
Are you having a hard time finding the right light? How far should you hang the lights from the plants? What size tent and inline fan should you choose? These are some of the problems growers face, and below we will provide you with solutions.
How to choose the right light?
A good rule of thumb for LED grow lights is 25-30 watts of actual power per square foot of growing space for flowering medical or other large flowering plants.
Let’s take a 4ft x 4ft tent. You will find the square footage by multiplying the length and width: 4 x 4 = 16sqft.
16×25=400w
So 16 sq ft of grow space requires about 400 watts of actual wattage, so for a 4×4 tent, the SF4000/SE5000 will do perfectly.
This is just a basic guide. You can get the right power by using more lights, or by using the dimmer box on our lights, or get better canopy penetration by using higher wattage.

If you want to know how to choose a fan, you first need to understand what CFM is. CFM determines how much cubic feet can be moved or exchanged each minute.
For example, the volume of a 4′(L)X4′(W)X6.5′(H)grow tent is 16 sq ft. Since a grow space’s volume is also the required CFM to ventilate it every minute, this grow tent’s base CFM is 104. (4x4x6.5=104CFM).
Components such as ducts and carbon filters can reduce fan performance in your grow space, and the heat from the LED light also requires an increase in the required CFM. So when we add carbon filters (CFM+60%), ducts (CFM+20%) to the ventilation system, we get about 200 CFM. And then taking into account the heat output of your grow lights (CFM+10%), all we need is about 220CFM
